Ephesians 6:14-17 reads "Stand your ground, putting on the sturdy belt of truth and the body armor of God's righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News, so that you will be fully prepared. In every battle you will need faith as your shield to stop the fiery arrows aimed at you by Satan. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."

Psalm 19:14 “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, the Lord, my rock, and my redeemer.”

L – Listen – Listen for him to speak to you. A lot of the times we have one sided conversations with the Lord and don’t give him a chance to speak right when he is about to.

Do you ever find yourself thinking thoughts to yourself, or thinking about issues you have going on in your life? I know I do all the time, especially during those long drives to work and long exhausting days. Have you ever noticed when your thinking these thoughts that you’re trying to make sense of them, and figure out yourself how to fix your own issues by thinking out different ways you could approach the situation? I find myself doing this all the time, instead of just clearing my thoughts and listening to what God has to say. Sometimes the Lord is trying to speak to us and guide us in the direction he wants us to go, but we tend to cloud our minds with thoughts and try to figure out obstacles on our own. It is not our job to figure out the obstacle, but to hand our obstacle over to the creator of the universe.

The Lord is constantly trying to speak to us and tell us his thoughts, but because we are so distracted with our little things in our lives, and we tune him out. Here is an important thing to remember, our lives are not our own, they are His. We think every little thing belongs to us, whether its our money, clothes, our issues, and even our time. In reality our circumstances, possessions, and situations belong to God. So why deal with everything on your own when God can handle all things? All He wants us to do is slow down and Listen. Wait for his words. Pray and spend one on one time with him where you simply clear your thoughts and come into a divine place with him.

Question: What does God have to say to you that you aren’t hearing? Are you spending time to listen to His voice? Or do you become distracted with trying to do everything on your own?

More: The Lord hears you crying out to him. You just need to tune in to listen.
